Speed of Delivery and Dispatch
All orders will be processed as quickly as possible. Stock items are normally posted the same working day up to 14.00hrs or the next working day. Working days are Monday to Friday, and do not including Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays. Books are sent via Royal Mail, please allow up to 14 working days for UK delivery. Books on Pre Order are dispatched as soon as they arrive. Arrival dates are estimates; we are reliant on other companies, sometimes this causes delays.
We publish and source guides from across Europe. Therefore the office/despatch is sometimes closed to allow for research/sourcing trips. Periods of closure is stated on this website. At times of closure, your order will be processed at our return.
Delivery Address not your Card/Home address
We are happy to send your goods to any address you provide, but if you chose a delivery address other than your registered card/home address and the goods are not received; we will not issue a refund, provide any compensation, or resend the goods without further payment.
If Royal Mail returns goods (not received) back to us, we will issue a refund for the value of the returned goods minus the postage and packing costs incurred by us. Due to our pricing policy, the postage and packing costs may not be displayed on your order, invoice, our promotional material, or our internet sites.
Incorrectly Provided Delivery Address
We are happy to send your goods to any address you provide. Please also see “Delivery address not your home address” above. If you provide a delivery address with incorrect details that causes goods to not be delivered to the desired destination, we will not issue a refund, provide any compensation, or resend the goods without further payment.
If Royal Mail returns goods (not delivered) to us, we will refund the value of the order minus the postage and packing costs incurred by us. Due to our pricing policy, the postage and packing costs may not be displayed on your order, invoice, our promotional material, or our internet sites.
UK Delivery
All UK orders are sent via Royal Mail, and are posted Second Class unless you have selected and paid for First Class Post.
All Royal Mail Second Class postage and packing costs are included in the price for UK orders. We would advise that packages sent by this method usually take two to four working days from despatch. First Class postage is available at the point of order and is charged at 50p per item. However in exceptional circumstances delivery may take up to 14 working days. We do not offer delivery via a courier.
Europe and Worldwide Delivery
All deliveries outside of the UK are sent Air Mail. You will be charged shipping at cost for each item ordered based on its weight. Orders will not be processed if the shipping cost has been incorrectly selected. Goods delivered by Air Mail to European destinations arrive within seven to 21 working days of dispatch and within 12 to 30 working days of dispatch for the rest of the world.
VAT - TAX (TVA - IVA)
The prices displayed on this website are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable (books are currently zero-rated). Customers ordering goods for delivery outside of the UK will be responsible for payment of any local taxes as well as UK VAT, and will be required to pay any extra for delivery and clearance where necessary.
Customs Charges
Goods ordered for delivery outside of the UK may be subject to import duties and taxes once the goods reach the country of destination. By placing an order, you agree to pay any charges levied in relation to customs clearance and that you accept that Vicarious Books Ltd has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. Vicarious Books Ltd recommends that you check with local customs officials or post office for more information regarding importation taxes/duties that may be applicable goods ordered. By ordering here, you will be the importer and will be responsible for the record and for any import Tax and duty that needs to be paid.
Returns
For most items, the Distance Selling Regulations give you the legal right to cancel your order within 7 working days of receiving the goods. However, this right does not apply to certain items such as personalised products, perishable goods and audio or video recordings or computer software which has been opened.
If you wish to cancel using this right, you need to inform us in writing within 7 working days after you received the goods. You must take reasonable care of the goods and immediately return them to us. Please open all envelopes carefully and keep safe in case you need to return any part of your order. You can then use the envelope to return the product. In all cases, items must be returned in their original envelope, accompanied by a copy of the delivery note or receipt, to: Vicarious Books, 62 Tontine Street, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 1JP.
We will not consider that you have taken reasonable care of the goods if they have been used in a way, or to an extent, beyond what would be reasonable when examining the goods in a shop before purchase.
Please allow 14 days (in addition to the delivery time) for the return to be processed. This returns policy does not affect your statutory rights.
The above does not apply to purchases made in person at 62 Tontine Street or at Exhibitions. Returns on purchases made in person or returns after 7 days (Distance Selling Regulations) are accepted at the discretion of Vicarious Books.
Returns Policy for Business Customers
Our standard Returns Policy does not apply to those customers who purchase items for business use, resale or on a Business Account. Please see your individual contract.
Damaged, Faulty, or Incorrectly Supplied Goods
Goods that are, damaged in transit, faulty or, incorrectly sent by us are to be returned to Vicarious Books Limited in their original packaging, using the most economical method of postage. Once the item/s are received by us, we will either replace item/s or issue a refunded in full (including postage costs). Please state which option you prefer.
Whether you require a replacement or refund, we will wait until we receive the item/s from you before despatching a replacement or issuing a refund. Any item must be returned within 14 days of receipt in the UK, 21 days of receipt outside the UK.
Vicarious Books will check all items returned as damaged or faulty. In the event that we find no fault, we reserve the right to recover our fees and expenses from you.
Incorrectly supplied goods of a higher value
We have better than 99.9% accuracy rates in our dispatch process, but errors are inevitable. Should we accidently send you goods of a higher value than the order placed we reserve the right to recover the balance should you not return any incorrectly supplied goods to us within the 14 days of receipt in the UK, 21 days of receipt outside the UK.
Undelivered Items
Books are posted to UK addresses in separate envelopes therefore orders with two or more items may arrive on different days.
Very few of our goods are reported not to reach their destination (less than one in a thousand) invariable these eventually turn up or are returned to us.
Royal Mail requests 14 working days for delivery to UK addresses and 21 days for Airmail deliveries. If your goods have not arrived after seven working days, please contact us and we will check and confirm the dispatch date and delivery address.
If after 14 days, UK address or 21 days for Airmail orders, you have not received your goods please email ask@vicariousbooks.co.uk or write to Vicarious Books, 62 Tontine Street, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 1JP to request the items to be resent and we will immediately dispatch your items, subject to stock or issue a refund. In addition, see Delivery Address not your Card/Home address and Incorrectly Provided Delivery Address above.
In the situation where goods posted to the correct address are not received, we will place a claim with Royal Mail. Royal Mail may wish to contact you. Should your goods subsequently turn up they must immediately be returned to Vicarious Books, 62 Tontine Street, Folkestone, Kent CT20 1JP.
