It’s hard to believe that anywhere can be as easy as France for motorhoming, but with fantastic weather, unbeatable tourist attractions and just as many Aires (if you know where to look) Italy is hard to beat as a motorhome destination.

If you fancy Italian this year don’t forget the essential ‘Guida Camper’. This is an Aires guide (Aree di Sosta in Italian) and road map - two for the price of one. The exact location of 1500 Aires are pinpointed on the map. The details of the Aire are clearly detailed by symbols. In addition it clearly states whether the Aire is free ‘gratuito’ or pay ‘a pagamento’ and how many motorhomes are accepted.

This Italian publication set the benchmark for stopovers guides. Firstly it is beautifully clear 1:300'000 road atlas for the whole of Italy, with street level city plans at the rear. The masterstroke was marking the 1500 stopovers directly on the maps.

Guida camper uses symbols to convey the essential information and has a key and introduction written in English.

At the back of the sostas guide there is street level mapping for bigger towns and some of the difficult to find stopovers have mini maps. There is detailed information about each stopover including type, directions (in Italian but quite easy to understand), address, telephone number and services. The services are explained by symbols with a key in English in the front foldout. GPS co-ordinates, are occasionally supplied in 51°13’28”N 2°55’12”E format.

Produced by the Italian mapping company Belletti the 1:300.000 road map covers the whole of Italy with the stopovers marked directly onto the map – so you always know where your nearest stopover is. Guida Camper details over 1500 stopovers.
