Alternative CampingCard Guidebook for UK, Ireland, France, Spain & Portugal

Read our blog post comparing the two ACSI camping guides: ACSI Camping Card 2018 vs ACSI Campsite Guide for UK, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal.

This is a brand new ACSI campsite guidebook for 2018. It is important to understand that it is a camping directory, for 5 countries, that happens to have a Europe-wide discount CampingCard included, it is not a replacement for the traditional Camping Card books and does not list all the Camping Card sites. It comes with a numerical code on the Camping Card which allows you to download the ACSI Camping Card app for an additional fee. Please note: We cannot offer assistance or technical support with acquiring or using the ACSI app.

ACSI have included all 485 campsites in the UK and Ireland that were inspected during 2017; 40 of these campsites accept the CampingCard ACSI. The guide does not list all the sites in the Camping Card discount scheme for France, Spain or Portugal. They have specifically selected the campsites in France, Spain and Portugal that are the most popular with UK visitors, or would be if UK visitors knew about them.

Campsite guide for the UK, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal only

This book is specifically relevant to people who are only travelling in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal and/or people who would like to know about non-Camping Card campsites in those countries.

Although the campsite descriptions and directions are identical to those in the traditional ACSI Camping Card guidebooks, this guide helpfully includes details on holiday accommodation for hire. So anyone wanting to stay in rented accommodation can easily find campsites with static caravans, lodges and cabins in France, Spain, Portugal, the UK and Ireland.

High and low season camping in Europe

Anyone planning on camping in Europe during July and/or August would also benefit from this campsite guide because, as not all of the campsites are participating in the ACSI Camping Card discount scheme, you are not limited to low season camping (September-June).

2340 campsites listed by country detailed in the ACSI Campsite Guide UK, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal

  • UK - 525 campsites (485 non-CampingCard, 40 CampingCard)
  • Ireland - 60 campsites (50 non-CampingCard, 10 CampingCard)
  • France - 1195 campsites (105 non-CampingCard, 1090 CampingCard)
  • Spain - 475 campsites (270 non-CampingCard, 205 CampingCard)
  • Portugal - 85 campsites (65 non-CampingCard, 20 CampingCard)

Does this campsite guide list ALL of the Camping Card discount campsites?

No. If you want a book that lists all of the campsites where your ACSI Camping Card will get you a discounted rate, you need to buy the traditional ACSI Camping Card books

How the Camping Card ACSI discount scheme works

This guidebook does not provide details about all 3,330 discount campsites spread across 21 countries. Instead it provides details of 1,365 CampingCard sites and an additional 975 non-Camping Card sites in France, Spain, Portugal, the UK and Ireland. On presentation of the ACSI discount Camping Card to the campsite reception the price charged per night is either €11, €13, €15, €17 or €19. This covers 2 people, a car, a caravan/motorhome/tent, 6amp hook-up, VAT, a pet and use of showers. Small charges can be made by the campsite to cover tourist or environment taxes and waste disposal. This is a different scheme from Camping Cheques. The CampingCard that is included with the guide is valid at all 3,330 discount camping sites across Europe, but the details of all the campsites are not listed within the guide.

    Replacements

ACSI do not provide us with extra books to be used as replacements should your card, books or map get lost, stolen or damaged. So unfortunately we are not able to send you replacements free of charge. In order to replace a lost or stolen card you would have to purchase another set of books with a new card inside.
