Road Trip Europe - The Great War and More ISBN:9780956678195

This was the first of the Road Trip Europe series of driving tours from Vicarious Media. The Great War and More tour encompasses five cities, four countries and two world wars. On this tour you will go to the highest point in the Netherlands and below the streets of Arras visiting the most important sites in world war history. In between you'll visit the beautiful Mosel Valley and the vast Eiffel National Park. You'll sip wine in Germany and beer in Belgium. You'll tour the smallest town in Belgium and what is considered to be the oldest city in Germany.

Along the way we’ll tell about all the not-to-miss sights which are sure to make this a trip to remember. We’ll tell you where you can park your motorhome, pitch your caravan or tent or even put your head down on a fluffy hotel pillow at the end of the day. And, for those moments when you just want a bit of down time, there’s information on where to eat and shop as well.

This driving tour is suitable for motorbikes, cars, campervans and motorhomes.

Meli says: When we were full-timing we would have appreciated the information in Road Trip Europe: The Great War and More and it would have been nice not to have to do all our own planning.

Keeping that in mind, we’ve written a driving tour that does all the hard work for you. It’ll take you to some obvious and some unexpected places and it can be easily tailored to each of your whims and fancies. You can choose where you want to go, what sights you want to see and how long you want to spend in each place. The tour is written in traditional Vicarious Media style and is ideal whether you’re a first timer or an old hand.

As this tour coincides with the centenary of WWI and the 70th anniversary of Ardennes Offensive, be sure and take a look at our historical WWI and WWII maps.

Customer testimonials

"I have just ordered the Go Dutch Road Trip book.  If it is half as good as your previous Great War book, we will be delighted.  We followed the Great War last autumn in our motorhome and had a most moving experience, but nevertheless, enjoyed (?) the whole 2 week experience.  We have no plans to go to the Netherlands, but when we do, we want your book to hand to make sure we get the most from our trip." - Steve Jennings

"I...wanted to let you know what a great aid the Road Trip Europe (The Great War and More) was. In May this year we followed the book, more or less exactly, staying at the recommended Aires...[Unfortunately, after a few stops we] had to cut short and return via Bruges. However, this August on our tour of France down to the Tarn Gorge (not for the faint hearted) and back over the Milau Viaduct we diverted back to the book... [It was] our first experience of Germany and I must say we really enjoyed it....Many thanks for all the easy to follow advice. It's a brilliant small book and I have certainly recommended it to other mobile home travellers we have met on our journeys. Many thanks for a job well done." - Robert Waters

"We picked out the WW1 & WW11 part of the tour to follow this year. Couldn't fault it. Interesting info, where to park & where to sleep. Fabulous." - Anne Smith
