And more importantly, they have made personal recommendations throughout the guidebooks, so that you can make the most of your camper van tours in France.
All the Aires France North and South third editions, published March 2019 and will be republished in 2022. See our blog for 2021 updates for North and South. These guidebooks describe in detail more than 99% of all the motorhome stopovers in France.

The North Aires guidebook and map details 1950 Aires plus LPG stations in the Pays de Loire, North, Normandy, East, Champagne, Centre, Burgundy and Brittany regions. Excerpt "All the Aires France is still just as great as it always was. It’s a bit bigger and a bit older (just like the rest of us!), but like a good French wine, it’s improved with age."
Motorhoming in France has never been more fashionable and stopping overnight at French Aires is most motorhomers' first choice when touring France in a campervan. Thankfully over 500 new Aires have opened and many have been moved to bigger areas. 818 camping aires now have barrier entry systems. Keeping up with this change has been a full time job for Meli and Chris since 2007.
Each inspected French Aire has two accompanying colour images, concise directions with road names, numbers and postcodes, and GPS co-ordinates (POIs) in format: N51°04.798' E001°08.331' that were taken on site. To assist you in choosing the right Aire in France, service points and parking areas are described, and there are comments about desirability and local amenities including information on: distances to nearby towns, shops and restaurants, green spaces for exercising dogs and children, opportunities for fishing, walking, cycling, and local places of interest.
There are other guides, such as Le Guide Officiel Aires de Services Camping Car and apps of French Aires but, they lack continuity, detail and you have to read through lots of user comments to determine exactly what is actually the truth.
Updates we receive from customers are published on our blog, so you can check in before your trip to see if any Aires you plan to visit have changed. Visit the blog for All the Aires North 2021 and All the Aires South 2021 updates. You can also submit your own changes and updates to firstname.lastname@example.org
Map of aires in France
Our double sided sheet map of aires in France makes finding nearby aires quick and easy. Simply choose an aire by number then look at 12 nearby Aires on each double-page spread within the books. Instantly cross-reference and select the aire for you.
One sheet map is included with the pack of two books. The mapping is also printed on the inside front and back covers of both volumes. The foldout planning map has the north of France on one side and the south of France on the other, thus making route planning and French Aires selection easy. The locator map has colour-coded regions, with the Aires in each region being numbered from 1. Motorway service points are also marked on the planning map.
One copy of the fold out planning map is included with the guidebooks, additional copies of the locator map are available to order separately. Buy an additional Locator Map.
If you only want to purchase one of the books, you can buy All the Aires France South 3rd Edition. Unfortunately we are unable to sell the North edition on its own due to a stock imbalance with the South edition. The South edition will come with it's only Locator Map.
A note from Chris and Meli, the editors and inspectors
We have been stopping overnight at French Aires since 2003. During inspection tours we park our motorhome at a different Aire every night so we know what you want and need to know. We have provided as much information as is possible within the scope of this Aires guide. Highlights list the best Aires in France. With this book you will be able to make informed choices as you tour around France in your motorhomes and camper vans. We hope above all else that you will use the guide to get you off the beaten trail so that you too can enjoy the freedom of wild camping in France.
